Can I make this recipe vegan?

Definitely! Feel free to substitute the beef with tofu or tempeh and oyster sauce with vegan oyster sauce.

Beef and Broccoli Stir Fry

Easy, one-pan, 30 minute beef and broccoli stir fry.

Ingredients

Sauce

  • ½ cup coconut aminos or tamari
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, grated
  • 1-inch thumb fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tsp cornstarch

Stir Fry

  • 2 tbsp avocado oil, divided
  • 1 lb flanks steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 1 bunch broccoli (~2 cups)
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced

For Serving

  • Jasmine rice
  • Sliced green onion
  • Sesame seeds

Instructions

  • Whisk together sauce ingredients in a bowl and set aside. 
  • Heat 1 tbsp oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add veggies and cook for 4-5 minutes until tender. Remove from pan and set aside. 
  • Add remaining 1 tbsp oil to the pan. Once hot, add steak and cook for 3-4 minutes until it’s almost no longer pink. Pour in sauce and cook for 1-2 minutes until slightly thickened then stir in veggies. Cook for 4-5 minutes more. 
  • Serve beef over rice. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onion.
